“Diamond” Jim Richmond began playing in local bands in high school in Alamosa, Colorado, graduating in 1965, and then moved to the Denver-Boulder area to pursue his musical career while attending CU. He later followed the music to Texas and toured around the country while playing with the Tennessee Hat Band and such artists as David Allen Coe, Rusty Weir, Ray Wiley Hubbard, Jack Ingram and Tommy Alverson. Jim is still performing around Texas with a few different ensembles.
He recorded these tracks during the Covid lockdown, playing all the instruments and singing all the vocals, basically just to stay engaged musically.
From Jim - “First of all, I would love to have had some of my talented musician friends play on this album, but it was a pandemic and that was not possible. So, I had to do it all myself.” “As for the songs, they are included here not because they are great songs (which they are) or because they are some of my favorites (which they are) but because when the pandemic hit and all the shows were cancelled, I had to find some kind of musical outlet for myself. Searching my studio computer, I found a lot of songs that over the years, I had roughly recorded for practice. So, with no real goal but to have fun and to stay busy, I started adding parts until each song seemed complete. Listening to the finished project I thought somebody else might enjoy hearing my take on these tunes. Thanks for listening!"
